How to measure your wrist
Steps to Measure Your Wrist Circumference with a Soft Tape Measure
1.Preparing the Tools
Select a soft, flexible tape measure with clear markings. Ensure the starting end (usually marked as 0) is not worn or damaged to guarantee accurate measurements.
2.Relaxing Your Wrist
Keep your body relaxed, let your arm hang naturally, and ensure your wrist is in a natural, relaxed position without any intentional contraction or extension.
3.Determining the Measurement Position
Locate the bony prominence on your wrist with your fingers. Measure just above this point, where your wrist feels the thinnest. This is the standard position for measuring wrist circumference.
4.Starting the Measurement
Place the starting end (0 mark) of the tape measure at the determined measurement position on your wrist.
5.Wrapping the Tape Measure
Wrap the tape measure gently but snugly around your wrist. Make sure the tape measure stays level and close to your skin without being too tight, as this could affect the measurement.
6.Reading the Measurement
After wrapping the tape measure around your wrist, note the value where the two ends of the tape meet.
7.Repeating the Measurement
To ensure accuracy, take 2-3 measurements and then average them to get the final wrist circumference.
For example, if the first measurement is 15.5 cm, the second is 15.3 cm, and the third is 15.6 cm, the average would be (15.5 + 15.3 + 15.6) ÷ 3 = 15.47 cm, approximately 15.5 cm.
